About NeoTouch
NeoTouch is a narrative short film about a future technology and its effects on society. The film is part of a speculative design project, which Christine Wuerth created for her Master (MArch Design for Performance and Interaction) at The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.
The technology NeoTouch is used to portray a near future in which our current issues around digital privacy and physical safety are merged and consequently amplified.
The story picks up on current debates around consent. Peer pressure, poor communication, and insufficient digital literacy are key factors that create victims without perpetrators. The interaction between the characters is not based on ill will and yet they end up overstepping boundaries and everyone is left to deal with the consequences.
Ultimately, the film leaves us with a critical reflection on the way current technology mediates our interactions and an uneasy feeling about a future where haptic technology translates these digital challenges into a physical experience.
